The Bronx Neighborhood Health Action Center started offering naloxone training this week.

During the hour-long class, participants will receive a free kit with the overdose antidote, Narcan and learn how to use it.

The class is part of HealingNYC, the City’s initiative hopes to reduce opioid overdose deaths 35 percent in five years.

According to representatives with the Center, Highbridge-Morrissania, Hunts Point-Longwood and Crotona-Tremont have seen some of the highest numbers of opioid overdose deaths in the City.

"We want to be able to equip people with the, the naloxone so that they can act fast and perhaps save a life," said Fernando Tirado from the Bronx Neighborhood Health Action Center

The center hopes to hold classes four to six times a month.
