Mayor Michael Bloomberg welcomed the Miss New York 2011 contestants to the city Monday.
The 22 contestants in the upcoming pageant gathered at City Hall to take pictures with Bloomberg.
This is the first time the 71-year-old pageant will be held in the city.
"Last year I was crowned in Albany, in the state's capital, but this year we decided to move the pageant down to Staten Island because of the community service and family feel of Staten Island, but then it's awesome because we're able to visit some of the other boroughs and introduce some of these upstate girls who perhaps have never even been to New York City or to Manhattan," said Claire Buffie, Miss New York 2010.
The winner will be crowned at St. George Theater on Saturday.
