James Molinaro, Staten Island's Conservative borough president endorsed Democratic incumbent Michael McMahon for re-election to Congress Tuesday.

McMahon's opponents include Republican candidate Michael Grimm, who received the support of former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former Representative Guy Molinari.

In his endorsement in Bloomfield Tuesday, Molinaro said he believes in the work McMahon has done for the district.

"At the present time I'm backing him, yes. I'm supporting McMahon for Congress," said the borough president. "I think he's done a good job, he's represented the people of the district. And that's what he has to do and he went down there to do that. So I think he should be rewarded with another term."

"I'm proud to have his support," said McMahon. "He's a common sense pragmatist and that's what I try to bring to my approach in Washington as well."

McMahon, who was first elected in 2008, represents Staten Island and parts of southern Brooklyn.
