Police are investigating after one man was killed and another wounded early Monday morning in what could be a gang-related shooting on Staten Island.

Police say the 24-year-old victim was found shot multiple times inside a Lexus on Yale Street in Graniteville just before 1 a.m.

A 23-year-old man found in the car had been shot in the arm; he is being treated at the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police say a third man was also in the car but had not been injured.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says investigators believe another car pulled alongside the Lexus at the intersection of York Avenue and Van Tuyl Street in New Brighton, and fired shots. The victim attempted to drive to a relative's Graniteville house, instead of to the hospital.

Local residents say they are worried about the safety of their neighborhood.

"Something must be done," said one area resident. "There are a lot of illegal things going on here. And as a tax payer, I want to be protected. I want my family to be protected. I think I deserve that right."

"This neighborhood has gotten worse the past few years," said another. "I guess whenever something like this happens, you have to be a little shocked."

As of late Monday, no arrests have been made.

The police commissioner is looking into whether this shooting is related to another shooting on Saturday night.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
