A major stroller maker announced a recall Monday morning of one-million strollers.

Maclaren has issued a voluntary recall of all umbrella strollers sold since 1999 because of concerns that kids can get their fingertips cut off in a carriage hinge, particularly when opening or closing the stroller.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been 12 reported amputations in the U.S.

The pricey British stroller manufacturer is offering to send owners a safety kit which includes protective covers for the dangerous hinges.

The Maclaren store in SoHo does not yet have the kits.

Parents are being urged to stop using the strollers immediately until the hinge cover is installed.

Many parents who use the stroller told NY1 that they were not alarmed by the news.

"I've used the stroller for seven years with our first child and this one we've never had any problem with," said stroller owner Mitchell Kane. "I think Maclaren's a great stroller. So obviously I'll go find out more about the recall."

"It's unfortunate that it is a child-related product and that you have to worry about stuff like this," said Horace Choy, another stroller owner. "But it's just a sign of the times, that you have to worry about everything you do with children."
