Bronx-born stand up comedian Robert Schimmel has died.
Schimmel's spokesman says the comic died Friday night in a Phoenix hospital from injuries he suffered in a car accident on August 26.
Schimmel was a passenger in a car being driven by his 19-year-old daughter, who swerved to avoid another car, causing their vehicle to roll to the side of the freeway.
The comic was a frequent guest on "The Howard Stern Show," and wrote a memoir about his battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Robert Schimmel was 60 years old.
