Weekend PATH service returns to the Exchange Place and World Trade Center stations this weekend after a year and a half of Hurricane Sandy-related repairs.

The Port Authority says it cleaned and replaced damaged surfaces and equipment throughout some 280,000 square feet of tunnels.

The agency also says it added new computerized signals to increase safety as part of the Positive Train Control system.

The work is not entirely complete though, the agency says weekend outages will return next year between Journal Square and 33rd Street on the Hoboken line and between Newark and the World Trade Center.
