Police have arrested a man who they say was involved in a sex trafficking operation out of an apartment in East Harlem.

Taye Ellerby, 35, is charged with sex trafficking, promoting prostitution, criminal trespass and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say he was holding three women - a 17-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old - in an apartment in the Taft Houses at the corner of 112th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

They say at least one of the three females was forced to engage in acts of prostitution.

A 2-month-old and a 4-year-old, both believed to be children of one of the three girls inside, were also found in the apartment, according to police.

Police say Ellerby was caught after an outside party set up a fake rendezvous to get one of the women out and take her to a hotel on Long Island.

Police say that the two people went to the 17-year-old's mother's house, and the mother then called 911.

Ellerby was then identified as he was exiting the apartment, according to police, and the other girls were removed from the apartment.

Police say the three women were given keys to come and go from the apartment but were under some sort of control to stay in the apartment.

The 17-year-old was a runaway from Connecticut who had been missing since December, according to police. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
