Parole has been denied for the man who killed a Vietnam veteran in 1990 because he was gay.
43-year-old Michael Taylor was denied parole at a hearing earlier this week. He and another man pled guilty to the brutal murder of 44-year-old James Zappalorti.
A then-20-year-old Taylor and 26-year-old Philip Sarlo were arrested and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Taylor was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison. Philip Sarlo died in prison in 1997.
LGBT activists recently wrote letters to the parole board asking that Taylor stay behind bars.
