"A Butterfly for Brooklyn"

Saturday night the Brooklyn Museum is partnering with Prospect Park Alliance to present "A Butterfly for Brooklyn." It's the largest fireworks piece to date by artist Judy Chicago. The fireworks are set for 7:30 p.m. at the Long Meadow in Prospect Park.

Tommy Tune at Café Carlyle

Legendary song and dance man Tommy Tune makes his Café Carlyle debut. The nine-time Tony Award winner plays the Carlyle now through May 3rd. Admission starts at $50 with a $25 minimum.

Dance Theatre of Harlem

The Dance Theatre of Harlem celebrates its 45th anniversary season now through Sunday at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Tickets start at $30.

World's Fair at Queens Museum

This week marks the 50th anniversary of the 1964 World's Fair. Head over to the Queens Museum for a multifaceted look at World's Fair art and artifacts, including a new exhibit on Andy Warhol.

"For No Good Reason"

The documentary "For No Good Reason" about artist Gonzo artist Ralph Steadman has just opened. You can also check out a pop exhibit with Steadman himself Thursday and Friday at the Red Bull Studio on W. 18th Street.

Food Book Fair

It's time for the 3rd annual food book fair at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg. With more than 20 events, 200 books and a collection of chefs, authors, artists and more, the fair showcases the latest in food innovation and conversation. Some of the events are free. A full festival pass costs $225.

A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald

Duke Ellington Birthday Celebration
Celebrate Duke Ellington's 115th birthday on Sunday, April 27th with a special event hosted by Mercedes Ellington, the Duke's granddaughter, a renowned dancer/choreographer who founded the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts in 2004. Come out for a free outdoor jazz concert featuring young musical performers from Jazz at Lincoln Center, renowned jazz vocalists, the multi Latin Grammy nominated Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra conducted by renowned Latin percussionist and band leader Bobby Sanabria plus swing and tap dancers. It all takes place from 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in front of the Duke Ellington statue at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 110th Street.
